Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine which uses essential oils, to alter the health, mind and mood of a person. Aromatherapy can be used in many ways, including massage, creams & lotions, inhalation, oil burners, baths and compresses.
Aromatherapy works through the limbic system, which controls emotions and influences the nervous system and hormones. When you inhale essential oil molecules, messages are transmitted to the limbic system and affect heart rate, stress level, blood pressure, breathing, memory, digestion, and the immune system. Essential oils are also believed to be absorbed through the skin.
Each essential oil has different healing properties. For example, some calm while others energize. By combining the oils best suited to an individual's needs a unique blend is created and used to treat each person.

What can I expect during an Aromatherapy massage?
After an initial consultation to find out about your general health, lifestyle and wellbeing, one or more essential oils are selected based on your needs and mixed with the massage oil. The aroma of the essential oils fill the air around you during the massage and the benefits of the chosen oils will take effect through inhalation and absorption of oil through the skin. A full body massage lasts for one hour and includes the back, legs, arms, chest and face.
